Senior Project Manager – Pre-Construction Estimating

As Senior Project Manager, you will assume an active role managing projects from concept design to contract documents. Your pre-construction estimating background, exceptional computer skills, and demonstrated people skills will allow you to seamlessly oversee the estimation of each project through to a successful consensus-driven reconciliation with the client and all stakeholders.

We are seeking a candidate in the Greater Boston area with pertinent experience in pre-construction estimating for large scale projects within the institutional sector. You will work closely with our highly specialized estimating and project management teams in our head office and satellite offices.


  • Preparation of detailed quantity surveys
  • Reviewing and comparing estimates
  • Communicating estimate, variances and reconciliations to owners and architects
  • Monitoring project costs, performing cost analysis, and preparing project reports
  • Reviewing bids
  • Participating in value engineering and life-cycle costing studies
  • Analysis of design documentation
  • Building relationships, showing leadership and collaboration
  • Integrating with estimate production team and process
  • Mastering cost estimation and scheduling software
  • Understanding and integrating within the Vermeulens culture


  • 8 – 15 years construction cost estimating experience
  • Broad range of experience in pre-construction estimating
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly organized, utilizing well-developed time management techniques
  • Skilled in delegation and proven ability to lead and motivateteams
  • Ability to lead client meetings and open to traveling throughout North America
  • Specializing in health-care, higher education, science and technology, and cultural facility projects
  • Highly developed computer and technical skills including advanced knowledge of
  • On Screen Takeoff; Excel; Access etc..
  • Monitoring project costs, performing cost analysis, and preparing project reports
