Economic, Cost effective, Sustainable Solution to Solve Climate Change

Written By Peter Lucking On 06-Jun-2015

Climate change threatens our economy.  So why are we not taking action when there are economically viable solutions available today?  For decades, we have told ourselves depleting our resources was necessary in order to increase our standard of living, Impact = Population x Affluence x Technology.  The main obstacle to protecting our environment and climate change initiatives has been the higher costs of being Green.'  These constraints are simply not true.

Denver, Colorado, April 13th Richard Vermeulen's Amazon Best Seller 'Green at No Cost: Economic and Cost Control Strategies that Create No Cost Sustainability, can help reduce the effects of climate change whilst increasing our standard of living by over 50%, turning environmental degradation into environmental improvement.

In a report called "Risky Business, " business leaders including billionaire Michael Bloomberg and Henry Paulson compare climate change to an interest-only loan.  Those costs will be significant, according to the study's calculations.  By 2050, as much as $106 billion worth of coastal property will be below sea level, while extreme heat could reduce average crop yields by as much as 70 percent in some states… 60% of Americans and 97% of scientists believe Climate change risk is one of the critical issue of our time.

'Instead of being reactive to climate change, we can be proactive by mitigating the climate change risk at its source.  ~ Peter Lucking, Editor of Green at No Cost.

Two thirds of our energy consumption which directly correlates to CO2, and climate change is a direct result of the built environment that the construction industry is responsible for.  Vermeulen takes these economic design elements apart, examines them, identifies optimal pieces, and places these pieces in optimal relationships.  Some of these relations and configurations are surprising; many are elegant in their simplicity, most appeal to us because we realize that success and sustainable prosperity are within our reach.  These proactive economically viable sustainable solutions can reduce the effects of climate change, and increase our standard of living.

Richard Vermeulen is co-CEO, lead economist, and chief cost estimator for Vermeulens.  Vermeulens works closely with construction teams to determine the cost of projects, and provide strategies to meet budget targets, and control costs throughout the design process.  Richard has developed industry-leading standards for estimating and databasing complex construction projects throughout North America.  Richard writes the Market Outlook which reports on the state and direction of the construction market, and the Green at No Cost and Save-Save Solutions blog.
